THE CHALLENGE
SKY CON serves as SKY ZONE’s premier annual gathering, bringing together franchise owners, general managers, and corporate leadership to align on strategy, celebrate achievements, and unveil future initiatives.
During the SKY CON 2026 planning site visit, a newly installed executive team challenged MB4 to help them reimagine their event production. The goal was ambitious: transform the conference experience into something more engaging, more memorable, and more reflective of the energy and innovation behind the SKY ZONE brand — without increasing production costs or introducing unnecessary risk.
For years, the event relied on a traditional three-screen format commonly used for corporate conferences. While effective, this limited opportunities to create the immersive experience envisioned by SKY ZONE’s leadership team. Within the same budget allocated to the previous producer, MB4 was able to achieve so much more.
THE MB4 APPROACH
The centerpiece would be SKY ZONE’s largest LED installation ever: a cinematic 56-foot-wide curved LED environment spanning 840 square feet and operating on a custom ultra-wide 34:9 aspect ratio. Unlike traditional conference displays, this format would allow presentations, animation, branding, video, and live camera feeds to work together as a single visual experience.
The challenge on the content side was that simply refreshing and dropping past presentation formatting onto the new canvas wouldn’t work. Every slide deck, visual asset, and content workflow would need to be reconsidered.
MB4 worked closely with SKY ZONE presenters throughout the planning process, providing guidance on how to maximize the impact of the ultra-wide format while avoiding common presentation pitfalls. Presenters were coached on content placement, visual hierarchy, and stage positioning to ensure that every slide took full advantage of the expansive display. What could have been a problematic transition became a collaborative creative process that helped presenters communicate more powerfully than ever before. This content consultation was something SKY ZONE had never asked of the production company. So, it was a new experience for them to entrust experts on the most effective way to effectively display content.
BRINGING THE BRAND TO LIFE
To fully leverage the new visual environment, MB4’s creative team developed custom motion graphics and animated content based on the SKY CON theme. This content was designed specifically for this LED wall.
Using SKY CON’s Austin-inspired branding as a foundation, MB4 transformed a static illustrated skyline into a living digital environment. Clouds drifted overhead. Vehicles crossed bridges. Paddleboarders moved across a rippling Lady Bird Lake. Subtle environmental motion brought the city to life while reinforcing the event’s identity. This custom opening sequence became a signature element at the close of the conference experience as well.
For the awards gala, the animation evolved even further. As attendees entered the ballroom, the familiar Austin skyline gradually transitioned from day to night. The sun set behind the city. Building lights illuminated. Headlights appeared on vehicles. A moon rose over the skyline. The transformation created a dramatic shift in atmosphere and signaled to attendees that they were entering a completely different experience—even though they remained in the same room.
Throughout the event, MB4 used a combination of LED content, music, and lighting design (including custom gobo projections) to continuously reinvent the feel of the ballroom, ensuring that each of four sessions (leadership addresses, external keynote, innovation sessions, and awards) felt unique and purpose-built.
INNOVATION ON STAGE
The conference’s most visible example of production innovation came during the SKY CON Awards. Rather than relying on more costly and fixed custom-designed animation for every award category and winner, MB4 developed a layered content workflow that delivered a premium awards-show aesthetic while maintaining flexibility and budget efficiency.
Multiple content sources were mixed in our custom-built media server and deployed in real time, including cinematic sparkle motion backgrounds, animated category text, dynamic winner reveals, twinkle effects, and live picture-in-picture camera feeds. Award recipient names appeared elegantly over animated backgrounds at the precise time they were announced, while live camera shots captured winners as they accepted recognition on stage.
Combined with carefully selected honorific walk-up and walk-off music, the result was a polished production experience evocative of nationally televised red-carpet awards ceremonies. The audience response was immediate and enthusiastic.
EXECUTION WITHOUT COMPROMISE
Behind every visual moment was a carefully engineered production ecosystem. MB4 deployed a flown line array audio system, intelligent motion lighting, custom room branding, confidence monitors, teleprompters, live camera coverage, and our show control system designed to support presenters at every moment.
One of the conference highlights was the keynote presentation from Savannah Bananas founder, Jesse Cole. During his introduction MB4 morphed the visual environment from leadership address-look to Bananas-inspired branding, integrated his traditional 16:9 presentation content and video playback, high energy musical interludes (including live audience participation on stage), all while maintaining a seamless attendee experience.
Through it all, MB4 deployed a next generation 8K video processing platform to manage the ultra-wide LED environment. The technology delivered advanced screen management capabilities traditionally associated with significantly larger and more expensive processing systems. MB4 is constantly rethinking industry standards of hardware and software to provide a premium experience while reducing technical complexity and overall cost.
The result was a highly efficient workflow that helped maximize both creative flexibility and budget value.
THE RESULTS
From initial load-in through the final awards presentation, the ballroom executed flawlessly. The event planner later shared that working with MB4 allowed them to remain focused on attendees and stakeholders rather than worrying about production details. “For the first time in years, I was able to focus on the people in the room instead of worrying about AV. MB4 had every detail covered.”
Attendees, presenters, and stakeholders repeatedly commented on the elevated production value, the engaging visual environment, and the calm, organized atmosphere throughout the event. Most importantly, SKY ZONE successfully transitioned from a traditional conference format to a fully immersive brand experience without increasing production costs. The event concluded on-budget, exceeded expectations and established a new creative benchmark for future SKY CON conferences.
For MB4 Productions, SKY CON 2026 stands as a powerful example of what can happen when strategic planning, creative storytelling, technical innovation, and flawless execution come together to transform a meeting into an experience.
